Kids Teaching Kids Acton is looking for student volunteers to be new teachers and TAs!

We offer volunteer hours for teaching, TAing, and preparing course material.

*All classes are held on zoom.

No prior teaching experience is necessary. To get the hang of it, you can first meet with us and/or TA existing courses until you're ready to lead your own course as a teacher.

Teaching at KTK Acton

We're looking for teachers that will engage and educate elementary and schoolers. If you have a particular subject you're interested in (ex: math, english, biology, history, etc.), you can come in with your own ideas for courses. We can also assign you a specific course.

Details will be given during the interview!

Online Class

TAing at KTK Acton

A teacher's assistant sits in on a zoom meeting and monitors class. They help if technical difficulties arise, record lessons upon request, take attendance, and generally ensure class is running smoothly.

You do not teach as a TA, so it's an easy role that doesn't require preparation.

WHY JOIN?

  1. Interact with young kids and learn what it's like to be a teacher! The most satisfying part of being a teacher is to witness student growth. You'll also gain experience working with kids.

  2. Whether teaching or TAing for a class, you can record volunteer hours for the time you spend.

  3. You can truly set your own schedule. Whether it's teaching only one course, teaching a course every once in a while, or teaching every season, you decide how much time you want to spend teaching or being a TA.

Additional Info

As a teacher, you can set the time and dates for your classes. KTK Acton will advertise your course.

Keep in mind that your course will be on zoom. You will need to have a slideshow, google doc, or other online material to screenshare. You can create lessons that best fit your own style. Similar to what your teachers in school might have, it's best to have text, pictures, and occasionally videos to be more engaging.

The number and length of classes can vary, but a course should have multiple lessons (at least 4) around a single topic (our soft limit is 10 lessons). Classes are generally half an hour to an hour long, and teachers teach once a week.

You can always partner up with another teacher to co-teach a course.
